A thuya incense burner on a plinth: a pyramid pierced with black metal-rimmed holes through which the smoke escapes. At the base, a hinged case held by a chased brass shell clasp — that is where the incense goes. Hand-polished varnished wood: the knots and grain differ from one piece to the next.
A long thuya incense burner: the cover, rounded into a half-moon and pierced with black metal-rimmed holes, opens so the sticks can be laid in the trough.
